The information below will give an overview of the elements and features contained within the Policy Guide functionality.
Please note that Policy Guide is paid functionality. If you are interested in having Policy Guide activated for your enterprise, please contact your Account Manager (AM) or Customer Success Manager (CSM).
Nodes Overview
Nodes are the building blocks of the Policy Guide functionality. They can be dragged and dropped onto the canvas within the workflow editor.
Nodes are then connected together by clicking and dragging the base of a node to the top of another node. All nodes have three editable fields which can be accessed by double-clicking on the node. These consist of the following:
- Workflow node name: The name you would like to name it within your workflow. This is not visible to staff going through a workflow (please note you cannot change the Workflow node name of a start node).
Header and body fields: Where you would typically add in the content of any questions you would like staff to respond to.
Node Types
There are different types of nodes that are used within the Policy Guide platform. They include the following:
- Start: Whenever you create a workflow, a Start node is automatically added to your canvas.
The 'start' module is where your workflow kicks off. - Question: The question module is the main building block used to create a workflow. You can string multiple Question nodes in a row to collect information and to navigate staff to the appropriate information, based on their responses.
- Complete: The Complete node creates an endpoint to your workflow. These nodes would typically contain the advice you would like to provide staff based on their selections.
- Create Procurement Plan: This node only displays if your organisation has both the Policy Guide and Procurement Planning functionality activated. This is similar to the Complete node but will surface a button to your staff if they reach this step which will direct them to the Procurement Planning functionality.
If you have any questions about the Procurement Planning functionality, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager at VendorPanel. - Create RFx: This is similar to the complete node but will direct Buyers to VendorPanel if they reach this step.
Additional Node Elements
The information below details additional elements associated with nodes within a canvas.
-
Connectors: Connectors are represented by the lines between the nodes. They are used to define the pathways between each question. These surface to the Buyer as multiple-choice options.
Similar to Nodes, each connector has three fields that can be edited by double-clicking on them. All connectors (excluding the one connected to the Start node) need at least one answer for them to be valid.
-
Name: This name is only visible in the workflow editor and can be a good way to keep track of the contents of a connector.
-
Answers: Answers are the responses your staff can choose from when responding to questions. You can add additional answers by clicking on the Add new item button.
Answers can be reordered by clicking on the arrow icons on the right side of them, or they can be deleted by clicking on the X icon. -
Display order: If you have multiple connectors coming from a node, you can edit the display order so that the answers in a connector display above or below the answers in another connector. The lower the number in the field the higher up these displays to staff.
