The following article will explain how to identify policy guide errors and how to resolve them. It will also make referene to common Policy Guide elements, please familiarise yourself with these elements before proceeding.
When publishing a guide, you may receive an error message. These error messages indicate that the flow may be hooked up incorrectly and require correction.
Publishing failed – Node [Node Name] has an invalid connection – no answers set
This indicates that whilst a node as been connected to your flow, you have not added an answer to the connector.
When users of your guide complete the flow, answers help connect them to the right piece of information.
The error message will contain the name of the node that does not have an answer.
- Navigate to the connector in yellow that’s connected to mentioned node.
- Double click on the connector to open it up.
- If there are no answer entered in, add a new item and save the changes
- Save your changes to the guide and re-attempt publishing.
It’s good practice to check your connectors prior to publishing. There may be multiple nodes that have not had an answer set.
Publishing failed – Node [Node Name] is missing a connection
If you receive this message upon publishing, this indicates that a node is "disconnected" in your guide and has not been incorporated into the workflow.
- Locate the Node and either hook it back up to your flow if applicable or delete it.
- Once completed, save your guide and then re-publish.
Publishing Failed – No Completion nodes found
Every guide needs to end with a Completion node.
There are typically 2 completion nodes that are used to end a flow.
- The Complete node which is Red
- The Create RFx node which is Green
Review your flow:
- Check your guide. Does it have one of the above mentioned completion nodes? If not, drag one in depending on the outcome of the flow and hook it up.
- Once complete, save your change and re-publish.
Save and Publish option is greyed out

- You can either exit the workflow or make changes and then Save and Publish.
